French Open 2021 Women’s Final Highlights: Barbora Krejcikova became the first Czech women’s singles champion since 1981 after beating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 in the French Open final in Paris on Saturday.
The 25-year-old Krejcikova, who was unseeded and ranked 33rd, hadn’t made it past the fourth round in at any major before this trip to Paris. But after a magical run, beating the likes of Elina Svitolina, Sloane Stephens, Coco Gauff, and Maria Sakkari, she lifted the prestigious Roland Garros trophy after a two-hour-long final. Pavlyuchenkova, who played her first major final in her 52nd appearance, bounced back in the second set but failed to keep her momentum going till the very end.
